User Experience, The Only Experience

User experience and product design are two key factors in the success rate of any business. If you have a product that isn’t designed to maximize the users experience than consumers will most likely opt out of getting your product and replace it with another. This is a quandary isn’t? How are you as a producer supposed to know what every consumer wants out of your product?

Well there is no simple answer to this question. User experience will always differ from consumer to consumer, the only way that you can impact this, as a producer is to have a good product design with easy and understandable instructions.

Companies can also keep user experience up by staying in touch with users. BY staying in touch with users via email, twitter, or facebook they can notify them of any problems with their device or any updates or newfound uses for the device.

When assessing user experience from the perspective of a website admin there are a some similar but also different objectives that you need to take into account in comparison to a business. If your users don’t have a good experience than it impedes your ability to gain leads and followers of your website.

A good user experience is also important for retention of readers. If running a website is your livelihood than you get paid according to clicks and ads paying for space on your webpage. If you lose readership than you are losing money. By understanding your readers and consumers you can react and post accordingly to increase and retain readership.

What all of this comes down to is some market research. By using basic marketing techniques and assessing the readers/users of your webpage the data collected will reveal what exactly it is that your audience enjoys and what they don’t. By adding in comment sections or forums you can gain an even deeper understanding of your audience since you will be giving them a voice.

At my internship I am currently working on creating content for our News section. I had previously been posting this information to our social media outlets but realized that it would direct more web traffic and increase of Google page ranking if I posted blurbs of this information to our webpage. I can use the analytic tools of our webpage to assess what article received the most clicks. I am also working incorporating a comment section or creating a forum so that I can hear input from current patients or perspective patients alike.
